As for fore-telling the weather, you might as well roll the dice for the UK outlook, the place where you can experience all four seasons in one day. In fact, we had all four today: rain showers, hail, wonderfully warm sunshine and cold biting winds.Sunil Patelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17998062749546109287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-32315937275097598552016-02-27T19:53:31.621-05:002016-02-27T19:53:31.621-05:00My Dad and I loved the Foxfire books too, Les. My brother and I wanted to build everything in them. Their version of the zodiac said that gardening was not a good occupation for Leo's. I've been trying to prove them wrong since.Leshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18281256160705697856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-62856734443616015442016-02-17T10:50:09.557-05:002016-02-17T10:50:09.557-05:00Dear Plant Postings, I agree it is fun to think ab...Dear Plant Postings, I agree it is fun to think about these things if we don't take them too seriously. Last year we had acorns everywhere and the old timers said it meant a very bad winter. As I recall we had one snow! But the concept made sense. Thanks so much for stopping by!Lynn Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12726341040976568748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-53660520023542877862016-02-16T21:47:15.082-05:002016-02-16T21:47:15.082-05:00How interesting. I believe that some of the advice is probably true, as everything is tied together in nature and patterns can predict what will happen in the coming season or seasons. With that said, I have found some of these types of predictions to be faulty or less than reliable. For example, someone told me that if squirrels make their nests very high in the trees, we'll have a harsh winter. That has not come true this winter. But it is fun to think about these things. :)Beth at PlantPostingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10473637655960119672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-65204652734231232016-02-16T10:14:19.061-05:002016-02-16T10:14:19.061-05:00I'll have to add that one to the list, Phillip...I'll have to add that one to the list, Phillip!! :)Lynn Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12726341040976568748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-87510178642930067632016-02-15T23:51:00.555-05:002016-02-15T23:51:00.555-05:00Birds on power lines means cold weather is coming!...Birds on power lines means cold weather is coming! hahaPhillip Oliverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01546160918395373740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-17361442375923919102016-02-15T19:11:59.936-05:002016-02-15T19:11:59.936-05:00Oh wow Gaia Gardener! Kind of reminds me of the grapevine at Hampton Court Palace that is 120 feet long. The roots are said to grow into the Thames.Lynn Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12726341040976568748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8362037601559788546.post-80553960847876622292016-02-15T18:27:38.403-05:002016-02-15T18:27:38.403-05:00I've seen that Lady Banks' rose in Tombsto...I've seen that Lady Banks' rose in Tombstone, Arizona - it's wonderful! For a gardener, it's worth a trip to go see it, if you're ever in the area. Gaia Gardener:https://www.blogger.com/profile/00692281131036600613noreply@blogger.com
